Hi all, I just wanted to let you know that over the latter part of last year and early part of this year I’ve pieced together a zine called “The Man Place”. It’s a collection of thirteen poems deconstructing and examining the concept of toxic masculinity. This little collection is book-ended with two haiku, split into the categories of “Reduction”, “Obsession”, and “Distraction”.
The collection is mostly new poems, but there are a couple of older poems, including fan-favourite “The Girl With the Ice Cream Eyes”, and I’ve included a small sample below.
The zine will be available as a PDF for AU$4, which includes a digital copy of the print-ready file in order to print your own copy for personal use.
A print copy is available Australia-wide for AU$6 (international shipping will be unavailable due to the cost factor, unfortunately), which will come signed and delivered with additional content slipped in as a thank you for your support.
I will endeavour to email and post all preorders on the release date of 23rd February 2018. If you want a copy by then, all you need to do is make a payment to my paypal account: email@example.com with any necessary instructions/shipping details/etc. I’m expecting only a small amount of interest, but on the off-chance that it spirals out of my control, I’ll let you know of any delays I might have.
If you would like a copy for review purposes, please contact the above email address and I will try to get a pdf to you as soon as possible.
In the mean time, please check out the samples below, along with an early review. This is my most honest and personal work of poetry to date. All feedback/interest is appreciated. There is sensitive content – mention of sexual abuse and rape – within the zine, so please be mindful of that.
